I love crumpets! I grew up eating crumpets but unfortunately, there was no gourmet crumpet on the market. So I made it my mission to make the perfect crumpet.
They are fermented, made with Pepe Saya buttermilk & wholemeal flour to make them deliciously good. The true secret is understanding what each ingredient is doing and what its role is to get the perfect crumpets.
With lots of love! There are many elements to making crumpets – they are made in small batches and fermented for hours. Then cooked on a hot plate in rings on a really low temperature to allow the holes to pop.
With loads of Pepe Saya butter and Carriageworks honey – simple but great!
Crumpets with cheese, especially thinly sliced Pyengana Cheddar Cheese, are delicious! The ultimate is a Crumpet burger, I use crumpets instead of burger buns!
I love my meat well seasoned, charred a little on the outside and cooked medium rare. I cook a lot at home and love a good piece of Rib eye or Porterhouse cooked on the BBQ.
